Current Events Summary: The Zika virus has reached the Caribbean and the government of Grenada is telling its citizens to take preventative measures to make sure they do not contact the Zika virus, which is spread through mosquitoes. The virus has no vaccine or treatment, yet and its symptoms have include: fever, muscle and joint pain, headache, nausea, and rash. The only thing the government can do so far is warn people of the virus and tell them to be careful of mosquitoes.
Concept Description: This article has to do with the demographic transition model, since Grenada is in stage 3, being a developing country. Like many of the countries in this stage, it does not always have the best medical advancements, compared to core counties in stage 4. Grenada being in stage 3 might be a reason why they have not found a treatment or vaccine to the Zika virus. |
