More About Grenada |
History of the Anthem |
Since Grenada is an island it does not have boundary disputes between other countries, but just because its an island does not mean its a nation state. In fact, Grenada is considered a multi-nation state. It has many nations in that are divided by things such as religion and culture.

“Hail Grenada” has been this Grenada's anthem since independence in 1974. The words of the national motto, “Ever Conscious of God We Aspire, Build and Advance as One People”, appear in the lyrics. Grenada also still retains the British monarch as their head of state, and thus has the British anthem as their royal anthem.

Meaning Behind the Flag
The nation flag of Grenada was adopted upon independence from the United Kingdom, February 7, 1974. The six stars in the red border stand for the country's six parishes, with the middle star, encircled by a red disk, standing for the capital, Saint George. The symbol in the hoist represents a clove of nutmeg, one of the principal crops of Grenada. It also represents a link to Grenada's former name, which was the "Isle of Spice". The red color of the flag stands for courage and vitality, yellow for wisdom and warmth, and green for vegetation and agriculture.
